Jim Hedgecock shares:  "I became interested in irises at a very early age when I had an aunt and grandmother that always had them around.  After purchasing the farm in the early 70's, I dug up a few from old home sites and began growing them.  I have always been interested in genetics.  So, the next step was to order a copy of The World Of Irises from AIS and find out how to hybridize.  The rest is history.  We turned the farm into all irises.  We now grow 17 acres of irises and some 2500 named varieties, as well as thousands of seedlings.  I hybridize medians, tall bearded, Louisianans, and more recently spuria irises.  I have been an accredited AIS judge for 11 years.  I am very interested in doing seminars for local societies and gardening clubs.  We do quite a large number of these programs each year.  My favorite saying is:  I never met an iris that I didn't like."
